Magnificent Makenna, where do I begin? It is your junior year of high school, and I am in continued awe of you and your amazing dignity and strength! You are taking a full load of classes including 4 AP/Dual credit courses while still being involved in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, student council, Younglife, campaigners, serving as class representative, and playing club volleyball . This tends to monopolize a lot of your time and sends you to many study sessions. You have the best of group of friends, and I love that you guys set up study time together. The snapchats of you guys using the whiteboard during study sessions always makes me laugh. Only one more year and you will be off at college like your brother! Seeing how you have handled high school lets me know that you are more than prepared to tackle college. I have to admit, I get a little sad knowing the house will be a little quieter when you leave. I love having us all together under one roof. I always feel as if something is missing when we are not all together.You have been gifted with the most compassionate heart. It is one of your greatest qualities. You are not afraid to stand up for what you believe, even if you are standing alone. For this I am so proud. I know you can handle any obstacle thrown at you, but I am still always here to stand in battle with you whether you need me beside you, in front of you, or slightly behind you. You know I will always have your back. You love family, and spending time with your aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, brothers, and mom and dad is important to you. It doesn't always happen often because you are busy with your social life (which I totally get), but when it does I definitely cherish it!
Your caring spirit has groomed you into an incredible leader. Your teachers and sponsors always turn to you to guide others. You have taken on the underclassmen in your falcon frenzy group and made them feel more included than ever. Encouraging them to meet you at sporting events, taking them to the mall, and spending quality time at Starbucks or Chick Fil A are just a few of the things you do to make them feel special and a part of something even bigger than volleyball. You make a point to include everyone no matter what.
With your faith, I know you will move mountains. Attending camp in Colorado really transformed you. You met an amazing group of friends that you have spent so much time with since you got back. I love that your friends transcend schools. I have no doubt you will meet even more amazing people in college. People are drawn to you, and I know it is because you always make everyone feel included. You are a true friend that will always be there for your friends no matter what. You have a close circle of friends, and I love that you all care for and support each other so much. Your Younglife leader is also an important part of your friend group. I love that you have dinner together, she leads you guys in worship, and she has brought the fun back to club nights. Continue to journal in your bible, and let God be your guiding light. You cannot go wrong with Him in your corner.
You have been given significant wings. Wings that will take you further than you ever imagined. So spread your wings and fly. But always know that you have a safe landing pad in my heart and in our home. I love you big!
